RET | public transport | 3000 employees | founded in 1927
RET is a transport company based in Rotterdam that oversees all tram, bus and train activities in the city. The company are undergoing several change transformation projects. One in particular is “data gedreven werken” which translates to ‘data driven work’. The aim is to build a platform for the business that provides them with more data insights to drive change across the business.
Key Takeaways
Specialist Talent Acquisition
Venquis successfully filled critical technical roles, including a Data Architect and DevOps Engineers, that RET’s internal HR team struggled to source.
Rapid Project Support
Venquis quickly placed candidates, getting RET’s “data gedreven werken” project back on track within weeks.
Ongoing Partnership
Venquis is now a trusted partner for RET, handling freelance technical hires, allowing RET’s HR team to focus on operational staffing needs.
Understanding needs
The company approached Venquis as its internal HR team were unable to find appropriate permanent candidates for this critical project, given their experience and network was focused on transport staff, rather than technical staff. The company required a Data Architect, as well as DevOps Engineers, but the company’s internal team, didn’t have access to the volume, quality or calibre of freelance candidates that Venquis do.
With the project at a standstill, Venquis was able to showcase that we could not only help get the data gedreven werken project back on track, but that we could also support on future freelance needs within the data and IT space, given the volume of large-scale technical projects RET are working on.
Delivering solutions
One week after we received the role brief, an offer was extended and accepted for all roles, with start dates commencing two weeks of our candidates accepting an offer.
By showcasing that our extensive, tight network of passive local Dutch freelancers would need to be leveraged to allow the project to move forward, we were able to hire multiple freelancers across the programme. Three hires have been made so far, and we are now partnered with RET to discuss any short term or interim needs, alongside ongoing chats around what the market has to offer. This allows the HR team to avoid overwhelm, focusing on hiring the larger volume hires in operations, while we focus on transformation delivery.
